View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Lotte Mart announced on the 28th that it will hold a discount event on Canadian chilled pork belly and neck from the 30th of this month to the 6th of next month.
In this event, Canadian chilled pork belly and neck will be offered at a 20% discount compared to the regular selling price, and even after the event ends, they will be sold at a price 10% lower than the regular price.
Lotte Mart anticipated the rise in pork prices in advance and planned to expand the volume of imported pork, which is relatively less affected by grain price increases, three months ago. They secured the supply in advance by directly contracting with Canadian producers without going through intermediate distributors, and received fresh products by air shipping the meat directly. The volume of Canadian pork imported, which was about 30 tons per month on average last year, has been expanded to an average of 80 tons per month.
