Kwon Seong-dong "Only Self-Reliance and Alliances Guarantee Peace"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] The ruling People Power Party emphasized on the 25th, marking the 72nd anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, that we must honor the patriotic martyrs and establish a firm security posture to counter North Korea's security threats.
Chief Spokesperson Kim Hyungdong stated in a commentary on the same day, "We express our deep gratitude and condolences to the patriotic martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the homeland and to the veterans of the United Nations forces from 22 countries, including the United States, who fought together for liberal democracy."
Spokesperson Kim said, "North Korea continues to threaten peace on the Korean Peninsula through nuclear weapons development and other means," adding, "We are reminded once again that only strong national defense and steadfast security can protect the nation and its people."
He added, "The People Power Party, together with the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, will strengthen security by building a science and technology-strong military," emphasizing, "Furthermore, we will realize denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula through principled inter-Korean relations." He continued, "We will create a country where military service is a source of pride and where those who have dedicated themselves to the nation are remembered until the very end," and added, "We will not cease efforts to recover the remains of the fallen soldiers of the Korean War until the last one is returned to their families."
People Power Party Floor Leader Kwon Seongdong also wrote on his social media, "Three presidents have held inter-Korean summits and called for peace multiple times, but North Korea has not stopped provocations," adding, "The People Power Party and the Yoon Seok-yeol administration will correct submissive security policies toward North Korea and deter North Korean provocations through strong alliances."
