Dexter Studio Joseon Royal Tombs VR Content Production
Designing Interactive Elements Using Unreal Engine
Dexter Studio announced on the 20th that it has produced virtual reality (VR) content based on the Joseon Royal Tombs. The content allows users to freely explore the interiors of the royal tombs, which are not open to the general public. Dexter Studio designed all interactive elements using Unreal Engine. A representative explained, "We optimized the three-dimensional (3D) data, implemented functions, created 3D object assets, and designed the UI," adding, "This allows people to enjoy historical culture in a new way."

The content is divided into 'Royal Tomb Spaces' and 'Events.' The former features different seasonal atmospheres implemented for Seolleung (spring), Yungneung (summer), Sungneung (autumn), and Mokneung (winter). The use of drones in Sungneung even creates the illusion of flying in the sky. The latter is a game experience where users participate in historical events or rituals and memorial ceremonies. Players take on roles such as ritual officers or royal tomb managers to explore the tombs. This experience is available at Taeneung, the Joseon Royal Tomb Exhibition Hall, and the Donggureung History and Culture Center.
