Gyeongnam Office of Education to Improve Housing for Rural Teachers and Staff
Establishment of the 2022-2025 Mid-to-Long-Term Management Plan for Official Residences
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Office of Education has established a mid- to long-term plan for managing official residences to create conditions that allow school staff in rural and fishing villages to fully concentrate on their work.
In December of last year, the provincial education office amended the Gyeongnam Province Education Expense Special Account Shared Property Management Ordinance, providing a basis for purchasing basic living supplies, enabling the provision of fundamental residential environments for school staff.
According to the mid- to long-term plan from 2022 to 2025, the Gyeongnam Office of Education will inspect 103 official residences located in remote islands and mountainous areas within the province and will repair or demolish old residences.
In areas with high demand for official residences, integrated residences will be newly constructed, and some unused residences will be converted into care classrooms and other facilities.
An education office official stated, “We will create conditions that allow excellent school staff to adapt and live in rural and fishing village areas, contributing to stable education in the region.”
