Naver Accelerates 'HyperCLOVA' Expansion... AI Launches Smart Gift Recommendation 'Ddokddok Gift Shop'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Naver is accelerating the expansion of services utilizing its ultra-large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) 'HyperCLOVA.' HyperCLOVA, which is applied in various fields including search and conversational services, is now being extended to the shopping sector, introducing a service that directly recommends gifts.
On the 19th, Naver announced the launch of 'Smart Gift Shop,' which applies HyperCLOVA technology within the 'Gift Shop' themed board that recommends various gift contents. Smart Gift Shop is a service where AI curates appropriate products based on the 'recipient' and 'intention' of the gift. For example, if a user selects the 'Parents' category and the '#Good for Health' category in Smart Gift Shop, health supplements for middle-aged and older adults are recommended. Additionally, the gift recipients are specifically categorized into teachers, students, lovers, pets, and more, while the gift intention categories are also subdivided.
HyperCLOVA technology is applied to recommend gifts in Smart Gift Shop. HyperCLOVA's language model was developed by learning data from Naver's publicly available knowledge iN, blogs, cafes, and other sources. The blogs learned amount to a vast volume equivalent to nine years. Based on various gift-related questions, answers, and stories publicly shared by Naver users, the AI extracts diverse gift recipients and intentions and recommends suitable products accordingly. Naver plans to further enhance product curation to enable more personalized recommendations in the future.
Meanwhile, HyperCLOVA is an ultra-large-scale AI composed of a total of 204 billion parameters. This surpasses the 175 billion parameters of the ultra-large-scale AI 'GPT-3' developed by OpenAI.
Naver is rapidly penetrating everyday life by expanding services utilizing HyperCLOVA. Recently, it introduced 'CLOVA Care Call,' an AI call service for elderly living alone and middle-aged single-person households. Additionally, HyperCLOVA corrects typos or spelling mistakes users make in the search bar. Product exhibitions conducted on Naver Shopping are automatically generated by AI rather than shopping planners.
