Weekend Demonstrations Across Downtown... "Care Workers Union Launch" March
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] On the weekend of the 18th, rallies took place across Seoul.
That afternoon, in front of the Yongsan War Memorial, a 'National Care Service Union Launch Declaration Press Conference' was held. Eighty members of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Service Federation marched from the Yongsan National School Irregular Workers Union office, holding placards reading 'Care State,' all the way to the Presidential Office.
At the press conference, they stated, “To unite the power of 1.1 million care service workers nationwide and realize the 'Care State Responsibility,' the Service Federation Care Service Division, the National Nursing Service Labor Union, and the National Social Service Workers Union are launching as an integrated organization.”
They delivered a letter to the Presidential Office containing demands such as △ expanding public nursing institutions by 30% △ expanding social service centers △ enacting the Basic Care Policy Act and the Basic Care Workers Act.

In front of the War Memorial, ten members of the Minjok Aeguk Tongil Youth Association held a 'Press Conference Urging the Abolition of the National Security Law.' They claimed, “June 15th marked the 22nd anniversary of the June 15th North-South Joint Declaration, but the National Security Law, which still legally blocks unification by designating North Korea as an anti-state organization, has not been abolished.”
