Final Exam Season... 'Fast Snacks' Gaining Attention for Helping Students' Nutrition Intake
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] As the final exam season approaches, interest in snacks that can provide nutrition for both students and parents is increasing. During exam periods, the demand for quick-to-enjoy snacks surges due to limited time, drawing attention to so-called ‘Fast Snacks.’ Various products, from cup fruits that require no preparation to yogurts suitable as meal replacements, are gaining significant popularity.
According to the industry on the 18th, Dole Korea’s 'Fruit Cup' is a 2-in-1 product that combines carefully selected fruits with 100% fruit juice, maintaining steady popularity.
The Fruit Cup contains bite-sized cut fruits in a small cup that fits in one hand, with a fork included, enhancing convenience for easy consumption anytime and anywhere. The fresh and soft fruit pieces are immersed in 100% fruit juice, allowing for a delicious and light taste. It comes in four varieties: ‘Pineapple Cup,’ ‘Peach Cup,’ ‘Mango Cup,’ and ‘Tangerine Cup,’ allowing consumers to choose according to their preferences.
A representative from Dole Korea’s processed food division said, “The Fruit Cup is popular as a snack that can be quickly and conveniently consumed, with bite-sized fruits and a fork included. It is perfect not only for students but also for busy office workers who lack time.”
Flip-type yogurt products that are easy to consume are also catching attention. Maeil Dairies recently launched a new topping yogurt product called 'Oh! Granola POP.' It contains yogurt that pairs best with toppings and 'Market O Nature Oh! Granola.' The product includes healthy whole grain granola with added five-grain balls made from oats, whole wheat, rye, corn, and domestic rice, making it tastier and healthier.
Nongshim’s 'Wowhan Bean Chips' and 'Wowhan Cheese Chips' are high-protein products ideal as nutritious snacks. With a protein content of 11.9%, which is 2 to 3 times higher than conventional snacks, they target the recent consumer trend favoring high-protein foods for health and nutrition. Additionally, the low-temperature cooking method preserves the unique taste and aroma of beans and cheese while maintaining a crispy texture.
Dongsuh Foods released two types of ‘Post Popcorn Granola’ (Crispy Original, Sweet Chocolate) that can be enjoyed conveniently and healthily anytime and anywhere without milk. The savory popcorn is coated with granola containing various nutrients, including nine vitamins, offering both taste and nutrition, making it a snack that can be enjoyed without guilt.
