On the 17th (local time), The New York Times (NYT) obtained an email sent to SpaceX employees and reported this. According to the email, Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), fired several employees involved in the letter following an investigation.
In the email, she stated, "Employees were pressured to sign a letter that did not reflect their views, which made them uncomfortable, scared, distressed, and angry," adding, "We have very important work to do, and there is no need for this kind of boundary-crossing behavior." She also urged, "Please focus on company work and do your best. Only then can we go to Mars."
Several SpaceX employees also revealed the day before that the company had fired employees who helped draft and distribute the letter. The number of those dismissed has not been disclosed. The company has not confirmed this either.
Earlier, some SpaceX employees demanded in a letter to management that the company control Musk, stating that his public behavior and Twitter posts caused turmoil and embarrassment following recent allegations of sexual harassment against him.
