Changwon City, Gyeongnam, has completed the installation of multipurpose CCTVs to create safe alleyways in the Bongnim-dong area of Uichang-gu.

The city stated that it has been steadily promoting the multipurpose CCTV installation project to prevent crimes in advance, respond to incidents and accidents, and create alleys where women and children can walk safely.
In Bongnim-dong, Uichang-gu, the city completed the CCTV installation with a budget of 108 million won and explained that it monitors the area 24 hours a day through the control center.
According to the city, there are currently a total of 8,448 CCTVs installed in the city for crime prevention, child protection, and illegal garbage dumping surveillance.
At the CCTV Integrated Control Center, 48 control operators work in four shifts, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, monitoring various parts of the city.

Yoon Sangcheol, head of the Citizen Safety Division, said, “We will continue efforts to enhance residents’ safety by expanding the installation of multipurpose CCTVs and promptly replacing outdated cameras to create safe routes for citizens returning home.” He added, “In the second half of this year, we plan to increase the installation of intelligent CCTVs using smart technology to enhance the effectiveness of the installations.”
