President Yoon on Claims of 'Political Retaliation Investigation': "Did the Democratic Party Not Do It?"
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] President Yoon Seok-yeol strongly refuted the Democratic Party's claim that the new government has launched a political revenge investigation by saying, "Didn't you do it during the Democratic Party's time?"
On the 17th, President Yoon, while meeting with reporters on his way to the Yongsan Presidential Office building, responded to the question, "There are claims that investigations related to the previous administration and Assemblyman Lee Jae-myung are political revenge," by saying, "When the government changes in our country, criminal investigations are about investigating past matters, not future ones."
Recently, the prosecution has been accelerating the investigation into former Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Baek Woon-kyu over allegations of a blacklist during the Moon Jae-in administration. The investigation into Assemblyman Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party regarding the Daejang-dong case has also intensified.
