On the 16th, Minister Kim held a press conference with the press corps near the Government Seoul Office and said, "It is true that there are diverse public opinions about our ministry recently, and it has become a subject of social debate. We plan to find clues to resolve this issue through town hall meetings with the 2030 generation soon."
Minister Kim explained, "By openly discussing various topics such as career interruptions due to childbirth and childcare, and military service issues, we want to deeply understand the frustration and deprivation felt by young people and ultimately create a time to find ways for the younger generation to share more opportunities for growth."
She also shared her reflections on meeting with Gender Equality and Family Ministry staff over the past month since her inauguration and exchanging thoughts about the ministry's future with its members.
Minister Kim said, "The staff I met at the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family have worked hard to fulfill their responsibilities despite being the smallest ministry with limited personnel and budget, and they possessed sufficient capability and willingness to take on more work."
Since taking office, Minister Kim has visited institutions related to single-parent families, multicultural families, out-of-school youth, and at-risk youth to listen to their opinions.
Minister Kim said, "Next week, I plan to visit the Saeil Center supporting career-interrupted women and the Digital Sexual Crime Victim Support Center. I am carefully listening to the opinions given by many people in the field and thinking about how to turn them into policies."
