BMW, Volvo Trucks, Maserati, and Volvo Recall Over 8,000 Vehicles Due to Manufacturing Defects
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 16th that a total of 8,117 vehicles across 29 models manufactured or imported and sold by BMW Korea, Volvo Trucks Korea, FMK, and Volvo Cars Korea have been found to have manufacturing defects and will undergo voluntary corrective action (recall).
The recalled vehicles can be repaired free of charge at the official service centers of each manufacturer and seller. If vehicle owners have paid for repairs out of pocket before the recall, they can apply for reimbursement from the manufacturer.
A total of 6,684 vehicles across 23 models, including the 'BMW X4 xDrive20d M Sport Package' imported and sold by BMW Korea, were found to have a sealing defect inside the fuel filter heater, causing a small amount of fuel to leak at the connection point and enter the power distributor. This may result in the engine failing to start.
A total of 1,295 vehicles across 4 models, including the 'FM Cargo' imported and sold by Volvo Trucks Korea (including those before sale), experienced intermittent overload when the front windshield wiper operates or stops due to a software error in the vehicle communication control unit, damaging the switch control component (relay). This may cause the front windshield wiper to fail to operate, potentially compromising safety.
A total of 92 'Maserati Levante GT Hybrid' vehicles imported and sold by FMK had improperly tightened fixing nuts on the 48V battery connection wiring, causing poor contact at the connection. This may prevent the hybrid system from operating normally, potentially affecting safety.
