ECB convenes emergency meeting to address market conditions
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The European Central Bank (ECB) will convene an unscheduled monetary policy meeting on the 15th.
According to foreign media such as CNBC, an ECB spokesperson stated, "The ECB monetary policy meeting will be held immediately to discuss the current market situation."
Currently, in Europe, government bond yields have been rising due to the worsening economic situation. In particular, the difference in government bond yields between Germany and Italy, which have different fiscal conditions, has widened to 2.4 percentage points, marking the largest gap since early 2020.
This series of bond market developments is shaking market conditions. There are also concerns that the central bank may raise interest rates significantly more than initially expected.
