View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] SK Innovation announced on the 15th that it participated in the 'SK Relay Blood Donation Campaign' held at the SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The event, held on the previous day to mark 'World Blood Donor Day,' was attended by about 100 members from SK Innovation affiliates and group affiliates such as SK E&S.
SK Innovation stated that it joined the campaign as part of efforts to alleviate the blood shortage and establish a 'social safety net.' This year was especially meaningful as it was the first year since the revision of the Blood Management Act elevated the day to a national commemorative day, SK Innovation explained.
The campaign was also part of the blood donation campaigns conducted by the SK Group. Previously, in December last year, SK Group launched the 'Life Sharing On(tact)' project. Since then, the large-scale 'SK Relay Blood Donation Campaign' has expanded to include not only SK members but also their families, partners, social enterprises, and the general public.
Accordingly, SK Innovation expanded the blood donation campaign, which had been centered on headquarters and SK Incheon Petrochem from January, to all regional business sites. Starting with SK Innovation Environmental Science and Technology Institute and SK Innovation Ulsan Complex (CLX) on January 13, the blood donation campaign has continued at all SK Innovation business sites. Members at business sites in Incheon, Seosan in Chungnam, and Jeungpyeong in Chungbuk are also voluntarily participating.
An SK Innovation official said, "SK Innovation recognizes the social structure where vulnerable groups are further marginalized or face difficulties due to various factors such as climate change, the spread of infectious diseases including COVID-19, and social polarization," adding, "The company and all members place significance on having interest and actively participating in building a social safety net to solve these social problems."
