"Prevent Natural Disaster Damage" Gwangju Seo-gu Conducts Pump Operation Training

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 15th that it conducted pump operation training to prepare for natural disasters caused by heavy summer rains.

The training held the previous day near Gwangamgyo Bridge along the Gwangju Stream involved about 50 members of the private regional autonomous disaster prevention group and disaster management officials.

The session included education from a professional instructor on how to use and maintain the pumps, followed by hands-on operation of the pumps.

The members of the regional autonomous disaster prevention group were divided into six teams to practice individually, learning how to operate the pumps and use the automatic inflatable sandbags for flood prevention, thereby enhancing their disaster response capabilities for real situations.

A Seo-gu official stated, "We will continue to enhance the disaster prevention activities of the regional autonomous disaster prevention group through various education and training, maintain an organic cooperation system with the autonomous disaster prevention group, and strive for prompt and effective disaster response."

Meanwhile, Seo-gu possesses a total of about 100 pumps distributed across the district's dong administrative welfare centers and safety-related departments, and plans to deploy them quickly to flood-prone areas in emergencies to ensure residents' safe summer.
