Yeongsangang Regional Environmental Office, Special Inspection on Illegal Discharges During the Monsoon Season
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office announced on the 14th that it will conduct special inspections on 10 wastewater discharge businesses by the end of June to prevent water pollution-causing activities taking advantage of heavy rains during the monsoon season.
The inspection targets are small-scale (types 3 to 5) businesses among 286 businesses in the Hanam and Pyeongdong industrial complexes near Pungyeongjeongcheon and Hwangryonggang, which can directly affect the water quality of the Yeongsan River due to water pollution accidents (2 type 2, 3 type 9, 4 type 21, 5 type 254), where management has been neglected.
This inspection will focus on whether wastewater is being discharged illegally, whether wastewater is properly treated through water pollution prevention facilities, whether permits and on-site facilities match, and compliance with environmental technician management requirements.
As a result of the inspection, administrative actions related to violations will be requested to the relevant local governments, and cases for prosecution will be investigated internally and sent to the prosecution.
