Gyeongbuk Office of Education Operates AI Translation Service ... Contributing to Convenience for Multicultural Families and Foreigners
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] The Gyeongbuk Office of Education is operating an 'AI interpretation and translation device' in the civil service office to provide civil administrative services without communication difficulties for multicultural families and foreigners.
As we enter the era of multiculturalism, the number of multicultural families in Gyeongbuk is continuously increasing (number of multicultural family students: 5,481 in 2015 → 10,787 in 2021), so the AI interpretation and translation service was introduced to proactively resolve the inconveniences faced by multicultural families and foreigners who have communication difficulties.
The newly installed AI interpretation and translation device translates 65 languages in real-time through voice recognition, enabling two-way communication, and is expected to greatly contribute to improving civil service convenience for multicultural families and foreigners.
Min Byeong-yeol, Director of the General Affairs Division, said, “In addition to the AI interpretation and translation service for multicultural families and foreigners, we will continuously expand and improve civil services to enhance convenience for socially considerate groups such as the disabled, pregnant women, and the elderly, and we will make further efforts to improve the environment and services so that the civil service office can be more friendly and comfortable.”
