LH Announces Special Design Competition for Bucheon Daejang and Suwon Dangsu
Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 14th that it will conduct a "Public Communication Special Design Competition" based on design concepts proposed by the public.
The targets of this design competition are Bucheon Daejang A1 Block and Suwon Dangsu2 A5 Block.
Earlier, in May, LH held a nationwide idea contest for Bucheon Daejang A1 Block and operated a living lab with tenants of rental housing in the Bucheon area. As a result, the concept of "Emotionally Rich Welfare Village" was selected as the complex concept, and the concept proposed by the public was reflected in the guidelines for this design competition.
For Suwon Dangsu2 A5 Block, to apply "Human-Centered Design," Professor John Hong of Seoul National University was appointed as coordinator, and for two months starting in April, the daily lives of rental housing tenants in the Suwon area were observed. Additionally, user research was conducted by holding FGIs (Focus Group Interviews) and establishing expert governance, and the diverse needs of tenants derived from this were reflected in the design competition guidelines.
The design theme for Suwon Dangsu2 A5 Block is "Human-Centered Ecological Design," which goes beyond functional and user-centered design to incorporate ecological design linked with the natural environment, creating a "sustainable residential complex through the integration of humans and nature."
Those eligible to participate in this competition are architects qualified under the Korean Architect Act or foreign architects who have reported their licenses to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. However, upon winning and contracting, the main contractor must be a domestic architect registered under Article 23 of the Architect Act.
