Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) jumped from 8th to 3rd in the official weekly golf world rankings announced on the afternoon of the 13th (Korean time) with a score of 7.40 points. He accumulated points with a 2-stroke victory (19-under 261) at the PGA Tour RBC Canadian Open (total prize money $8.7 million), which ended that morning at St. George Golf Club in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (par 70, 7,014 yards). This is his second win of the season following The CJ Cup in October last year, which is included in the 2022 season.
McIlroy commented, "Winning on the PGA Tour is getting harder and harder," adding, "The talent of the members is incredible." This seems to be an attempt to belittle the first LIV Golf Invitational event, which recruited relatively less competitive veteran players. He added, "I now have one more win than 'that someone'." It is interesting that Greg Norman (Australia), CEO of LIV Golf, has a total of 20 wins. This can be seen as a public shot fired.
