The meeting focused primarily on safety management and traffic measures in anticipation of potential strikes or rallies. Pyeongtaek City plans to continuously monitor rally notifications and to cooperate with relevant agencies, such as the police and fire departments, to minimize inconvenience and confusion for citizens.
Additionally, the possibility of disruptions to construction and operations at the Samsung Electronics Pyeongtaek Campus was a key agenda item. The city expressed concern about construction delays affecting the local economy and decided to closely monitor the progress at construction sites as well as trends in nearby commercial areas.
In particular, to prepare for the possibility of an economic downturn in the region, the city is actively considering phased support measures such as expanding special guarantees for small business owners, raising the limits and incentives for local currency, and implementing policies to stimulate consumption.
The city also discussed responses to potential damage to partner companies. Pyeongtaek plans to regularly assess the difficulties faced by local semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment firms connected to Samsung Electronics and to introduce additional support measures if any damage occurs.
Furthermore, as part of its response to instability in the Middle East, Pyeongtaek City will expand the function of its "Emergency Economic Countermeasure Meeting," which has been operating since March, to also assess the broader impact of the current labor situation on the local economy.
