Review of CU Yonsei Milk Cream Bread 3 Types
I don’t like bread filled with cream. The reason was simple: it feels greasy. So even half a slice of cake would make me wave my hand in refusal. For me, the pure milk cream was a turning point that changed my image of cream inside. It was moist and soft, but rather than being greasy, it had a savory taste reminiscent of milk left at room temperature for a short while, which was fascinating.
About 6 to 7 years ago, ‘pure milk cream’ was a sensation in the dessert world. Although it’s not as wildly popular as before, it has established itself as a guaranteed taste. Like the acting skills of a seasoned actor you can comfortably watch in a home drama.
However, recently, milk cream desserts collaborated with dairy companies have been gradually appearing here and there. The dessert I want to introduce today is the CU Yonsei Milk Cream Bread made by Yonsei Dairy.
This is not the first time a dairy-specialized company has released dessert products. For example, Maeil Dairies has sold roll cakes named after their brand and recently collaborated with Paul Bassett. Pasteur has also offered ice cream at Naturru and various cafe specialty stores. Following such moves, the cream bread released by Yonsei Milk has already gained word of mouth on SNS, reportedly selling 300,000 units in the month it was launched. Before buying, I imagined a regular-sized cream bread, but when I picked it up, it was quite large. The retail price is 2,400 won. Considering the size, it’s a reasonable price.
Yonsei Milk Cream Bread
Starting with the original, which is the basic of everything. The outside is a shiny bread similar to the commonly known red bean bread. When split in half, the cream inside was so full it even stuck to my hands. However, compared to bakery-sold milk cream bread, the texture was a bit firmer. As stated on the packaging, it contains processed milk cream, but it seemed to also include vegetable cream.
Contrary to the expectation that it would be very sweet due to the heavy amount of cream, it wasn’t very sweet. Unlike the super sweet cream you think of when you hear cream bread, it had a mild sweetness. You can taste the milk flavor at the end, but it’s not overwhelmingly milky. The outside part had a faint industrial fermented bread flavor that slightly diluted the cream taste. This was a bit disappointing compared to the satisfaction given by the amount of cream.
Yonsei Milk Red Bean Fresh Cream Bread
The combination of red bean and cream, as already well known. Because it contains red bean paste, it felt much heavier than the other products. The outside is the same cream bread. Inside, cream and red bean paste fill half and half, packed full. The abundance is pleasing just to look at. Surprisingly, neither the red bean paste nor the cream was very sweet, but rather mild. When it comes to red bean paste, you can’t miss the perfect match with milk. Since the bread’s flavor isn’t very sweet, it would go well with sweet milk drinks like banana milk or strawberry milk.
Yonsei Milk Chocolate Fresh Cream Bread
Personally, I like chocolate, so this was the bread I was most looking forward to among the three flavors. The bread has a chocolate hue, and inside is filled with chocolate cream. Perhaps because it contains low-fat cocoa powder, this product also wasn’t very sweet. If you buy it expecting a thick, sweet chocolate cream, you might be disappointed. Personally, the sweetness felt more like cocoa than chocolate.
Overall, the evaluation is that it’s good for the price. It’s definitely among the top convenience store breads. However, if you expect the rich and dense milk cream of a specialty bakery, you might be disappointed. The cream had a moderate texture, neither too heavy nor too light, and was well balanced. Rather, the unique flavor from the bread wrapping it might be divisive. One thing is certain: there is a lot of cream. If you want to enjoy an overwhelming amount of cream that gives you a thrill the moment you split it in half, I recommend it.

Perhaps thanks to its continued popularity, a melon milk cream bread is said to be released in June. As someone who likes Melona, I have high hopes for this melon flavor as well. I hope to see more variety in the future, such as strawberry, banana, coffee, and black sesame. I look forward to more diverse options.
