People's Power Party Rep. Jo Su-jin Listens to Opinions of Mokpo and Sinan Residents
Suggestions from Mokpo for the Yoon Suk-yeol Administration and Review of Monsoon Season Measures
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] On the 14th, Jo Su-jin, a member of the National Assembly from the People Power Party, plans to visit Mokpo, Jeonnam, and Anjwa-myeon, Sinan-gun to hear about the unprecedented worst drought situation and listen to the opinions of the residents.
As the historic drought continues, the southwestern part of Jeonnam is suffering from water shortages, including restricted water supply.
Upon arrival in Mokpo, she plans to stop by the Mokpo City Council press room to hear the requests from Mokpo to the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.
She will then have lunch with former DJ faction figures, including Advisor Lee Gwang-rae, who supported President Yoon Seok-yeol during the March 9 presidential election and helped create momentum in Mokpo, and who visited Haewido, Sinan-gun, the birthplace of former President Kim Dae-jung (DJ), during the official campaign period.
In the last presidential election, Mokpo gave President Yoon Seok-yeol 10.35% (15,000 votes), and in the June 1 local elections, 13.88% voted for the People Power Party.
In the afternoon, she will visit Anjwa-myeon, Sinan-gun, about an hour by car from Mokpo via the Cheonsa Bridge, to observe the drought situation and listen to residents' opinions.
The reservoir rate in Sinan-gun is 40.7%, the lowest even among the severely drought-affected areas in Jeonnam.
In the evening, she plans to meet with Park Hong-ryul, the elected mayor of Mokpo (independent), to discuss support measures at the National Assembly and ruling party level.
Rep. Jo said, “The ruling party must focus first and foremost on people’s livelihoods. Since reservoir construction and water supply facilities require government support, we will do our best to ensure grant tax support in the National Assembly and also make sure that measures for the expected monsoon season from late this month are not neglected.”
Earlier, on the 8th (last Wednesday), Rep. Jo visited Gurye to check on drought damage and compensation status for residents who suffered great damage from the collapse of the Seomjin River embankment caused by record heavy rain and failure to control discharge in August 2020, as well as to review monsoon measures expected at the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Rep. Jo Su-jin graduated from elementary, middle, and high schools in Jeonju, Jeonbuk.
