The Bar Association Launches Special Task Force on 'Arson at Daegu Lawyer's Office'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The Korean Bar Association (KBA) will launch a special committee to devise countermeasures regarding the arson incident at a lawyer's office in Daegu that occurred on the 9th.
The KBA resolved this at the standing board meeting held on the 13th. The chairman of the committee will be Association President Lee Jong-yeop.
Additionally, the KBA pledged 150 million won in donations to the Daegu Bar Association and decided to collect donations from law firms and members over four weeks. Furthermore, to prevent recurrence of similar incidents, the KBA announced plans to conduct a survey among members nationwide regarding cases of personal threats to grasp the actual situation and to consult with related agencies such as the prosecution and police.

The KBA also plans to pursue legislative activities, including strengthening penalties for violent acts targeting lawyers and other legal professionals.
