Depending on the characteristics of each area, measures such as partial lane changes, road surface markings, installation of road signs, traffic lights, lane separators, and additional installation of speed and signal violation enforcement cameras will be implemented.
A total project budget of 840 million KRW will be invested, and construction is scheduled to take place from June to November.
To promote this year’s project, Ulsan City has been collaborating with the National Police Agency, Korea Road Traffic Authority, and others since last year to establish customized traffic safety improvement plans for each region.
By analyzing traffic accident investigations and types, the project sites were selected, and effective road improvement directions were prepared to continuously strengthen citizen safety.
Over the past three years, Ulsan City has improved the traffic environment at a total of 41 locations through traffic environment creation projects. Nationally, regions that have implemented the ‘Frequent Traffic Accident Sites Improvement Project’ have seen a 31.5% reduction in traffic accident occurrences and a 72.1% decrease in the average annual number of fatalities.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “Since this improvement project is crucial for protecting citizens’ lives, we will continue to implement it. We ask for citizens’ understanding and cooperation despite any inconvenience during the construction period.”
