Hyundai Motor Researchers and University Students Improve R&D Sites with AI
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 13th that it will hold the 2nd Research and Development Headquarters Artificial Intelligence (AI) Competition. This project-based competition involves teams consisting of Hyundai Motor R&D staff and university (graduate) students working together to improve issues identified in actual R&D sites using AI algorithms.
Applications can be submitted through the website until the 22nd. Thirty selected participants will form teams with Hyundai researchers to carry out the projects together. To enhance understanding of the R&D environment, participants will receive on-site tours of the Namyang Research Center, job mentoring, and regular coaching from expert professors. This year, the number of selected participants has been approximately doubled compared to last year.
Participants will receive an activity allowance of 2 million KRW, and teams selected as outstanding will receive prizes of a similar scale. All participants will receive certificates of participation, and those who meet the minimum peer evaluation criteria will be exempted from document screening when applying for related departments within the company.
Since 2020, the company has been collaborating with Hyundai NGV, a specialized company in industry-academia cooperation and technical talent development, to establish an AI and data science education system and has introduced a competency certification system to cultivate in-house AI talent.
