[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] POSCO conducted a 'Python Bootcamp' training for employees of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions.

The Python Bootcamp training is a program designed to help nurture digital talent in SMEs. The training, which began on May 23 and lasted for three weeks, was attended by 52 employees from SMEs in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas.

The training program was created directly by professional instructors from the POSCO Human Resources Innovation Center and was structured to allow learning from basic to advanced Python applications.

In the latter part of the training, participants learned codes applicable to work automation using Python and practiced controlling web browsers.

Especially considering the difficulty of face-to-face education due to COVID-19, the entire training course was organized as online education utilizing the metaverse.

Through the metaverse space, trainees studied Python syntax and automation codes via online content and reviewed the learned material through weekly assigned tasks.

Park Min-kyung, head of the POSCO Human Resources Innovation Center, said, “The program was designed not only for basic coding learning but also to include content applicable to work, such as automation methods and case studies.”

This year, POSCO is providing digital literacy education for SME employees and children and adolescents who have limited access to smart education opportunities.

The Python Bootcamp for employees and middle and high school students will be held twice a year, and the Junior Artificial Intelligence Camp for elementary school students will be held four times a year. Additionally, further Python Bootcamp and Junior AI Camp sessions are planned for August.
