Wanju-gun Begins Distribution of Community Pension in Dogye Village
The Nation's Second Village Autonomy Pension Introduced... Pension Benefits for Seniors Aged 75 and Over
[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju-gun announced on the 10th that it held a proclamation ceremony to start the payment of the village autonomy pension in Dogye Village, Yongjin-eup, which was the second in the nation to introduce the village autonomy pension.
According to Wanju-gun, in November last year, through a win-win agreement with the National Pension Service, the Foundation for Cooperation of Large, Medium, and Small Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries, and Bongseogol Dogye Village Farming Association Corporation, the village autonomy pension was introduced in Dogye Village, Yongjin-eup.
With institutional support, a renewable energy solar power generation facility was established, and the generated power revenue (1.5 million KRW per month) combined with the village community revenue (1 million KRW per month) will be paid as a pension to seniors aged 75 and older in Dogye Village.
The revenue occurred within four months of introduction, and Wanju-gun started paying a pension of 70,000 KRW from the 25th of last month.
The number of recipients is 30, and it is expected to increase to 32 in August.
The 32 recipients account for more than 25% of the total residents.
The proclamation ceremony was attended by Park Seong-il, Wanju-gun Governor, Yoo Hee-tae, Governor-elect of Wanju-gun, Kim Jae-cheon, Chairman of the County Council, Kim Seong-hoil, Director of Management Support at the National Pension Service, Cho Tae-yong, Head of the Foundation for Cooperation of Large, Medium, and Small Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries, representatives of Wanju-gun village communities, Lee Il-gu, Chairman of Dogye Village Farming Association Corporation, Kim Chang-su, Head of Dogye Village, heads of institutions and organizations in Yongjin-eup, and village residents to celebrate the start of payments.
Meanwhile, Dogye Village has been continuously increasing income by selling tofu, kimchi, and scorched rice through a village enterprise operated by the village community since 2012. Through the operation of the village enterprise, various local community return projects have been carried out, such as preparing birthday tables for seniors aged 80, giving longevity congratulatory money (300,000 KRW each) to seniors aged 85 and older, and providing scholarships (400,000 KRW each) to outstanding students in the village.
