'iOS App "Jariphaenaem" Providing Youth Shelter Search and Counseling Services Released'
Providing Information for Out-of-Home Youth
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The iOS version of the 'Jaliphaenaem' mobile app, which provides information on youth shelter admission and welfare systems needed for out-of-home youth, was released on the 10th.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Korea Youth Counseling and Welfare Institute launched the Android version of the 'Jaliphaenaem' app last December, and as of the end of May, 3,290 youths have registered and are using it.
The Jaliphaenaem app improves accessibility to youth shelters for out-of-home youth and provides information necessary for independence, such as government support policies including employment support systems and welfare services for youth, as well as procedures for housing lease contracts and how to write employment contracts.
Users can search for youth shelters near their current location and check detailed shelter information and availability. It categorizes information necessary for daily life such as job preparation, housing management, economy, and health into 11 types, allowing users to assess their level of readiness for independence. Real-time expert counseling is also provided through online chat, phone, text, and KakaoTalk chat shortcut functions when consultation is needed.
Starting this year, a ‘Mentor-Mentee Board’ was newly added to the Jaliphaenaem app. Mentors answer inquiries from out-of-home youth related to independence. A search function for Youth Counseling Welfare Centers and Out-of-School Youth Support Centers has also been added.
