China Opposes Condemnation of Iran's Unconfirmed Nuclear Facility... "Only Hinders Nuclear Negotiations"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Min-jae] China opposed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)'s resolution condemning Iran's undisclosed nuclear facilities, arguing that it "does not help resolve the issue."
Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing on the 9th, "Pressure does not help solve the problem and can deepen conflicts, destroy diplomatic efforts, and escalate tensions."
He added, "Currently, consultations for the implementation of negotiations are in the final stages," and claimed, "The IAEA adopting a confrontational approach harms cooperation between Iran and the IAEA and only obstructs progress in the Iran nuclear negotiations."
Earlier, on the 8th (local time), the IAEA Board held a meeting in Vienna, Austria, and passed a resolution condemning Iran for operating undeclared nuclear facilities. China and Russia opposed the resolution, while three countries abstained.
