Suwon City Provides Air Conditioners and Cooling Cost Support to Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will provide cooling devices (air conditioners) and cooling expenses to vulnerable groups.
Last month, Suwon City first investigated the status of bedridden patient households at the Dong Administrative Welfare Center, where there is concern about heatwave damage, and decided to provide air conditioners to 7 households. The air conditioners will be installed within this month.
The city will also provide cooling expenses of 150,000 KRW to 400 households with a median income of 120% or less who are at risk of heatwave damage. The cooling expenses will be deposited into the recipients' accounts by the end of this month through the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest.
Since 2018, the city has been supporting vulnerable groups every year with summer survival supplies, cooling devices, and cooling expenses. Last year, air conditioners were installed in 12 households, and cooling expenses were provided to 400 households.
This cooling device and cooling expense support is funded by donations from the Seoul Medical Science Research Institute Foundation made last month and Suwon City's donation reserves.
