Samsung Electro-Mechanics Secures Multi-Trillion Won Order for Electric Truck Camera Modules from Tesla
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] Samsung Electro-Mechanics is reported to have signed a multi-trillion won supply contract for electric truck camera modules with Tesla in the United States.
According to foreign media on the 8th, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has secured the entire order for Tesla electric truck cameras. Samsung Electro-Mechanics is expected to supply parts to Tesla factories located in Shanghai, China, and Berlin, Germany.
The foreign media reported, "Samsung Electro-Mechanics won the bid and will supply all camera modules used in Tesla's Semi and Cybertruck vehicles," adding, "Taiwanese companies also fiercely competed for this large-scale order."
They continued, "Samsung Electro-Mechanics supplies camera modules for smartphones, but electric vehicle products are high value-added products that can increase profitability," adding, "Tesla electric vehicles have eight camera modules."
Industry insiders estimate that the scale of this contract will reach trillions of won.
