Hanwha Solutions Q CELLS division announced on the 8th that it has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to complete a 150MW solar power plant in Wyoming by the end of next year and supply electricity to a local energy company.
A PPA refers to an agreement between a renewable energy power producer and a power purchaser to trade electricity at a contracted price for a certain period.
Notably, Hanwha Q CELLS will directly undertake key processes for the first time in this project, including solar power plant project development, module supply, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), and PPA signing.
This power plant will generate approximately 350GWh of electricity annually, enough to supply about 390,000 Korean households for one year.
The electricity will be supplied to consumers through local companies, and companies using this power can build achievements in reducing greenhouse gases as well as fulfilling 'RE100' commitments by covering 100% of their electricity consumption with renewable energy.
Hanwha Q CELLS has strengthened its capabilities as a comprehensive energy solutions company by participating in large-scale renewable energy projects both domestically and internationally. Last year, it completed a 168MW solar power plant in Texas, USA, and in November, it began developing a 380MWh energy storage system (ESS) complex in the United States. Domestically, it completed a 41MW dam floating solar power plant in Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam.
