Suwon City Resumes Citizen Reward Program for Illegal Advertisement Collection
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province is recruiting participants for the 'Illegal Advertisement Collection Reward Program' that pays rewards to citizens who collect illegal advertisements, until the 17th.
The Citizen Collection Reward Program is a system where citizens submit illegal advertisements collected from their address to the local administrative welfare center, and Suwon City pays a reward.
Suwon City is recruiting 52 people this time, and anyone aged 20 or older who is a Suwon citizen as of the application date (one person per household) can apply.
Citizens who wish to participate must submit the collection reward participation application form, resident registration copy, ID card, and bankbook copy to the advertising management team of the construction department in each district. Participants will be selected through written and interview screening.
Outdoor advertising business operators, public officials, employees of contracted cleaning service companies within the district, and those working in public sectors such as job projects are not eligible to participate.
Illegal banners (including scroll and flag types) attached to utility poles, street trees, streetlight poles, and illegal posters are subject to collection.
The reward per illegal advertisement is 1,000 KRW for general illegal banners (680cm*70cm), and 500 KRW for scroll and flag types.
For general posters, large size (exceeding A4 paper size) is 100 KRW, medium size (A4 paper size) is 50 KRW, and small size (smaller than A4 paper size) is 30 KRW. The maximum reward per person is 500,000 KRW per month.
Collected illegal advertisements must be submitted to the local administrative welfare center of the resident registration address on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month along with an ID card and reward payment application form. The reward will be deposited into the account on the 10th of the following month.

A city official said, "We will resume the 'Illegal Advertisement Collection Reward Program,' which was suspended due to the spread of COVID-19, to realize governance administration that removes illegal advertisements through citizen participation," and added, "The illegal advertisement collection reward system is expected to help improve the cityscape and create a safe walking environment."
