Band Aksel's 'Our Sound Reborn' Gugak Creative Stage Performance

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Cultural Foundation Traditional Culture Center announced on the 7th that it will present the ninth Saturday regular performance of traditional Korean music creation stage with the Axel Band's 'RE:Birth - Our Sound Reborn' at 3 p.m. on the 11th.
The band 'Axel,' founded last year, carries the meaning of moving forward like an accelerator. It is also written as 樂sell, implying people who bring joy.
The band consists of seven members playing pansori, daegeum, piri, bass, guitar, synthesizer, and drums.
They are gaining attention as a new traditional Korean music creation group that combines traditional Korean music with other genres such as classical, jazz, popular songs, and world music.
Through performance and creation, they are also working hard on producing albums and content to promote the charm of traditional Korean music both domestically and internationally.
This performance, under the theme 'RE:Birth - Our Sound Reborn,' offers a chance to experience the melodies of traditional Korean music newly interpreted with Axel's unique youthful sensibility.
Opening with 'Binari,' the program includes the original composition 'Nanbongga,' 'SAVAGE' themed on Ppaengdeok Eomeom, 'Simcheongga and Nocturne' based on Simcheongga, 'Eosachuldo' and 'Sarangga' from Chunhyangjeon, 'Gwangdae' expressing the clown, and 'Jwau Najol,' a newly created piece depicting the rabbit-catching scene from Sugungga, well known from Byeoljubu Jeon, adding excitement until the end of the performance.
The performers include Kang Dongwon (Axel representative) on keyboard, vocalist Ji Myeongin, piri and taepyeongso player Park Sieun, daegeum player Go Suyeon, guitarist Jeong Jeongmin, bassist Lee Juhyung, and drummer Kim Wooseok, with Park Kwangshin hosting the event.

Meanwhile, the Saturday regular performances held every Saturday at 3 p.m. are open for on-site viewing with mandatory mask-wearing for entry. They are also broadcast live in real-time via the Traditional Culture Center's YouTube and Facebook channels.
