OxoPolitics Survey Data Introduced on MBC Election Broadcast
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The political data platform OxoPolitics' survey related to the 'Superintendent of Education' election held during the nationwide local elections on the 1st was featured on MBC's election vote-counting broadcast.
According to OxoPolitics on the 3rd, they conducted a survey under the theme "This is how we will change schools" from May 20th to encourage participation in the superintendent of education election.
The questionnaire consisted of a total of eight questions, including "Is the recent concern about declining academic achievement pointed out by superintendent candidates correct or incorrect?" and "Would it be good to reinstate the nationwide academic assessment as some candidates suggest?"
Among the approximately 1,300 total participants in this survey, teenagers accounted for 30-40% (31.2% male, 39.5% female). OxoPolitics explained, "The superintendent of education election held in this local election is significant because, following the 2019 revision of the Public Official Election Act lowering the voting age, 18-year-old high school seniors born before June 2, 2004, are participating in voting for the first time."
During MBC's local election vote-counting broadcast, comments posted by students on topics such as maintaining specialized high schools, reinstating the nationwide academic assessment, and student human rights ordinances were also introduced.
An OxoPolitics official stated, "We will continue to strive to establish a 'public forum' where a wide range of generations can freely express their opinions on various political and social issues and interests, and where mature discussion culture that acknowledges differences exists."
