"Reopening Effect" Jeju Dream Tower Complex Resort Achieves 'Highest Sales' Last Month
Lifting of Social Distancing and Business Hour Restrictions... Monthly Sales Reach 13 Billion KRW
26,000 Rooms Sold Monthly, F&B Sales Also Hit 4 Billion KRW, Record-Breaking Performance
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Jeju Dream Tower Complex Resort recorded its highest monthly performance since its opening last month.
Lotte Tour Development announced on the 2nd that the sales of the hotel division (Grand Hyatt Jeju) and retail division of Jeju Dream Tower Complex Resort reached 12.95885 billion KRW in May.
Paul Kwak, General Manager of Grand Hyatt Jeju, said, "With the lifting of social distancing and operating hour restrictions in April, last month we saw a high room occupancy rate with over 1,000 rooms sold per day, and food and beverage (F&B) sales also increased significantly."
The hotel division recorded an average daily room sales of 863 rooms in May (26,769 rooms monthly), the highest since opening, achieving sales exceeding 12 billion KRW (12.04995 billion KRW) for the first time. Compared to last year’s monthly average of about 6.9 billion KRW, this is nearly double the growth. It also surpassed the record of 11.5 billion KRW set in December last year, which was the highest sales due to the year-end effect after opening at the end of 2020. The company stated that the number of rooms sold at Grand Hyatt Jeju is more than twice that of competing luxury hotels in Jeju.
The food and beverage division, which operates 14 restaurants and bars, also exceeded 4 billion KRW (4.14 billion KRW) in monthly sales for the first time since opening in May. This is an increase of over 70% compared to last year’s monthly average sales of about 2.4 billion KRW, which were limited by operating hour restrictions.
Lotte Tour Development attributed the sales increase to various premium strategies implemented since April in preparation for the full reopening, including renewing the 'Grand Kitchen' into the largest premium buffet in Korea styled after Las Vegas, USA, and introducing welcome food and drink services presented by global star chefs, tailored for each room and F&B outlet.
The retail division, operated as HAN Collection K-Fashion Mall, also recorded sales of 0.909 billion KRW last month, surpassing 0.9 billion KRW in sales for the first time. This is more than double the average monthly sales of about 0.4 billion KRW last year.
