Bespoke Home 2022 Vision: Expansion of Space, Experience, and Time
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] "With the COVID-19 pandemic shifting the center of life to the home over the past two years, home appliances have evolved beyond simple ‘products’ to become ‘companions’ in our daily lives. More than 60% of the emerging MZ generation consumer base purchases home appliances not only because their products break down and need replacement."
Lee Jae-seung, President of Samsung Electronics (Head of the Home Appliance Division), stated this in a contribution titled 'Bespoke Home 2022, Expanding the Concept of Home Life' on Samsung Electronics’ website on the 2nd, emphasizing that home appliances now need to deliver not only functional value but also value that considers consumers’ diverse tastes and lifestyles.
President Lee said, "Since the launch of the Bespoke refrigerator in Korea in 2019, about 2 million units have been sold worldwide, and two out of three Samsung refrigerators sold in Korea are Bespoke models, making it a ‘trend’," adding, "we are expanding the range of Bespoke products so that more consumers can experience Bespoke Home."
The ‘Bespoke Home 2022’ vision was presented as ▲Expansion of Space ▲Expansion of Experience ▲Expansion of Time. He explained, "Bespoke Home offers a lineup of more than 20 products covering the entire home through the value of ‘expansion of space,’ which broadens the possibilities of home appliances in line with the expanding role of the ‘home.’" He also said, "Through the ‘SmartThings Home Life’ solution, we are realizing the expansion of experience by enabling consumers to control six essential services for home life?cooking, energy, clothing care, pet care, air care, and home care?on a single platform, and a global launch beyond Korea is also forthcoming."
Regarding the expansion of time vision, he said, "Bespoke Home considers sustainability from product experience to eco-friendly activities," adding, "We focus on developing highly durable products and making efforts for the environment throughout the product lifecycle, from production to disposal."
