[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Samsung Electronics is expanding its 'Paper Free' initiative, which minimizes paper printing, to service centers worldwide to strengthen its eco-friendly efforts.
On the 2nd, Samsung Electronics announced that it has implemented an electronic document issuance system at over 11,000 service centers in 180 countries, including the introduction of electronic receipts this month in Australia and the Philippines. This applies to all Samsung Electronics service centers worldwide that repair Samsung products, except for some countries where issuing electronic documents is difficult due to regulations related to providing paper documents.
In domestic service centers, electronic receipts have been issued since March 2020. Overseas, due to the diverse operation types and vendors of service centers in each country, standardization was challenging, but from this year, the electronic document system has been actively expanded.
Customers using service centers can conveniently check service details such as reception slips, receipts, and repair statements electronically via the website, email, or messages instead of receiving paper prints, thereby participating in environmental protection in daily life.
Samsung Electronics expects that replacing all service detail documents with electronic documents at service centers worldwide could save over 100 million sheets of paper annually. This would save more than 6 million liters of water required for paper production and reduce approximately 526 tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to the amount absorbed in one year by about 61,000 30-year-old pine trees.
