On the 31st, LG Electronics announced that it created a large video wall measuring 4.9 meters wide and 1.6 meters high by connecting eight 55-inch (approximately 138 centimeters diagonal) transparent OLED signage units (model name: 55EW5G-V) in the D-Soop open lounge on the first floor of the DDP Sallimteo. LG Electronics and the Seoul Design Foundation plan to continue expanding their collaboration to promote digital media art through this partnership.
Visitors can experience various media art works exhibited at DDP through the transparent OLED video wall. For the first exhibition, DDP is showcasing works by world-renowned media artist Refik Anadol and artist Jang Seowon.
This supply is significant as it introduces a new form of media art exhibition by installing transparent OLED signage at a representative design landmark in Seoul amid the increasing number of media art exhibitions using screens such as TVs and signage.
Transparent OLED allows viewers to see both the screen and what is behind it simultaneously, providing a unique art viewing experience unlike any before. Unlike LCD signage, which requires a backlight, OLED pixels emit light individually, maximizing the strengths of OLED technology. With high light transmittance, it excels not only in signage functionality but also in interior design effects. It offers clear image quality, wide viewing angles, and a transparent design that reduces discomfort even when multiple units are connected to create a large screen.
