North Korea's COVID-19 Cases Rise Again to 100,000s, Attention on 'Pyongyang Lockdown' Decision

On the 30th, the Korean Central News Agency, citing the National Emergency Anti-epidemic Command, reported that from 6 p.m. on the 28th for 24 hours, 100,710 new fever patients occurred nationwide.
Since the COVID-19 suspected patient statistics were first disclosed on the 12th, the number of fever patients surged to the 300,000 range, then dropped below 100,000 with about 88,520 on the 27th and about 89,500 on the 28th, but has risen again to the 100,000 level.
North Korea claimed that one new death occurred, bringing the cumulative death toll to 70, with a fatality rate of 0.002%.
North Korea experts are paying attention to changes in Pyongyang's lockdown measures as the number of fever patients shows an increasing trend again.
According to multiple sources within China, Pyongyang's lockdown was partially lifted as of noon on the 29th.
North Korea first reported the occurrence of COVID-19 on the 12th, announcing a lockdown across the entire country and the closure of major units.
On this day, the Workers' Party organ newspaper Rodong Sinmun did not indicate any easing of the lockdown atmosphere.

The newspaper stated that South Pyongan Province is "implementing stricter regional lockdowns and unit closures," and urged that "even the slightest complacency, negligence, arrogance, and carelessness are the greatest taboo."
