Drunk Driving Vehicle Crashes into Bridge Pier and Collides with Motorcycle
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Junho] A man in his 50s who caused a secondary accident after crashing into a bridge pier while driving under the influence has been arrested by the police.
The Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced on the 27th that Mr. A was booked on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Mr. A is suspected of driving in a heavily intoxicated state around 2 a.m. that day and crashing into a shock-absorbing device installed at the entrance of the Gwangamgyo bridge pier in Unam-dong, Buk-gu.
Due to the impact of the accident, Mr. A's vehicle was bounced into the opposite lane, and a motorcycle rider passing by was hit, sustaining serious injuries including fractures to the arms and legs.
At the time of the accident, Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration was investigated to be at a level warranting license cancellation.
