Kim Chang-ryong, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, and Kim Il-hwan, Chairman of the Korea Land and Housing Safety Management Institute, signed the MOU at the National Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, in the afternoon. The main contents of the MOU include ▲establishing a cooperative system for disaster and safety accidents ▲preventing secondary safety accidents at construction accident sites ▲cooperating in analyzing causes and responsibilities of disaster and safety accidents.

According to the agreement, the police will carry out tasks such as on-site management in case of safety accidents, prevention of additional accidents and safety management, investigation of major civic disasters occurring in public facilities such as large buildings, and investigation of causes and responsibilities of other construction site safety accidents. Commissioner Kim said, "I hope that through collaboration between the National Police Agency and the Korea Land and Housing Safety Management Institute, we can clarify specific causes and responsibilities of accidents and further strengthen the safety management system of architectural and construction sites."
