Air Force 1st Fighter Wing and Navy 3rd Fleet Conduct Runway Damage Recovery Training
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Air Force 1st Fighter Wing (hereinafter 1st FW) announced on the 26th that it conducted a joint air-sea runway damage recovery exercise with the Navy 3rd Fleet (hereinafter 3rd Fleet).
This exercise was planned to strengthen the joint operational capabilities of the Air Force and Navy and to improve the Navy's airfield damage recovery capabilities.
The exercise proceeded with the Air Force demonstrating the large-scale blast crater damage recovery procedures to Navy observers, followed by an introduction and training on post-recovery quality evaluation methods.
Additionally, to transfer the Air Force's know-how regarding the operation of FFM (Folded Fiber glass Mat), which the Navy will introduce in 2023, an FFM mat deployment training was also conducted.
After the exercise, a debriefing and tactical discussion were held to review shortcomings during the training and to discuss future development plans.
Commander Song Jeongcheol of the Engineering Battalion stated, “Through the joint exercise with the 3rd Fleet, it was an opportunity not only to improve damage recovery capabilities but also to strengthen joint operational capabilities. We will continue to enhance the wing’s operational sustainability through realistic and repetitive training.”
