[Seoul District News] Yongsan-gu Publishes First Catalog and Two Special Exhibition Themes Since Opening of Yongsan History Museum · Comprehensive Coverage of Yongsan's History and Culture ... Yangcheon-gu to Reopen Paris Park on 28th and Hold Cultural Performance at Fountain Plaza Stage Celebrating Completion of Musical Fountain
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seongjanghyun) Yongsan History Museum (35-29 Hangang-daero 14-gil) has published two exhibition catalogs containing the permanent exhibition and the special opening exhibition to commemorate its opening.
The two catalogs, published for the first time since the opening of the Yongsan History Museum, include the permanent exhibition titled "Borderless Yongsan" currently on display, and the special opening exhibition covering the history of Yongsan Railroad Hospital.
The permanent exhibition catalog is organized into 213 points divided into four themes covering the overall history and culture of Yongsan from the Joseon Dynasty to the present, as well as its future vision. The special opening exhibition catalog contains 165 points showcasing the urbanization process of Yongsan developed alongside the railroad during the Japanese colonial period, as well as the medical functions and architectural value of Yongsan Railroad Hospital.
To aid understanding of the materials, detailed explanations and scholarly articles by experts are also included. High-resolution detailed photos of artifacts taken by a cultural heritage professional photographer enhance the academic value of the catalogs, serving as references not only for visitors but also for experts in related fields.
The catalogs will be distributed to over 300 locations including the district office, community centers, national and public museums, libraries, and related institutions nationwide, and will also be posted as electronic files on the Yongsan District Office and museum websites to promote the history of Yongsan.
Seongjanghyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "Although the Yongsan History Museum holds about 4,000 exhibition artifacts, space limitations prevented us from displaying all materials. The publication of these catalogs is a great opportunity to widely promote the opening of the Yongsan History Museum and allow many people to confirm the value and status of Yongsan's historical culture through books."
The Yongsan History Museum is a local history specialized museum reborn by utilizing the former Yongsan Railroad Hospital building built in 1928, embodying Yongsan's historical significance and cultural diversity. It operates permanent and special exhibitions as well as experiential programs for children, youth, and families.
