Seongnam City to Issue Green General Passports Concurrently Starting May 31...
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will issue the previous green general passports alongside the next-generation electronic passports starting from the 31st.
The green general passport was issued until December 20 of last year, before electronic passports were introduced. Seongnam City decided to issue both types concurrently until the existing stock is depleted to utilize inventory and save budget.
The issuance target includes all citizens wishing to obtain a general passport. It will be issued with a validity period of less than 5 years (4 years and 11 months). However, if the passport validity period is specifically restricted by law for certain individuals, the corresponding validity period will be applied.
The passport contains 24 pages, and the issuance fee is 15,000 KRW. The city plans to issue 48-page passports once the current stock is exhausted.
A city passport official stated, "Issuing the general passport (green) will be a good opportunity for citizens to obtain a passport at a low fee of 15,000 KRW."
