National Police Agency Announces Promotion of 5 Officers to Senior Superintendent

On the 24th, the National Police Agency announced that five individuals?Kim Gwang-ho, Chief of Ulsan Police Agency; Park Ji-young, Chief of Jeonnam Police Agency; Song Jeong-ae, Director of Police Personnel Planning at the National Police Agency; Yoon Hee-geun, Director of the Police Security Bureau; and Woo Cheol-moon, Director of Investigation Planning and Coordination at the National Police Agency?have been promoted to Superintendent General.
The Superintendent General is the rank directly below the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency (Chief of Police, 1 person), and holds positions such as Head of the National Investigation Headquarters, Deputy Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, Chiefs of the Seoul, Busan, Southern Gyeonggi, and Incheon Police Agencies, and President of the Korean National Police University. There are a total of seven Superintendent Generals within the police force.
Chief Kim, born in Ulsan, entered the police force in 2004 through a special recruitment as a Superintendent after passing the 35th Administrative Examination. He has served as Public Relations Officer of the Ulsan Police Agency, Spokesperson of the National Police Agency, Director of the Cyber Investigation Bureau at the National Police Agency, and Chief of the Ulsan Police Agency.
Chief Park, from Gwangju, was appointed through the 41st Police Officer Candidate Program. She has held positions such as Chief of Yangcheon Police Station in Seoul, Director of Informatization Equipment Policy at the National Police Agency, President of the Central Police Academy, and Chief of the Jeonnam Police Agency.
Director Song, born in Daejeon, Chungnam, joined the police in 1981 through the open recruitment for patrol officers. She was the first female Senior Superintendent in the Daejeon and Chungnam region in 2013 and served as the first Director General of the Daejeon Police Agency in 2018.
Director Yoon, from Cheongju, graduated from the Korean National Police University (7th class) and has served as Director of Police Affairs at the National Police Agency, Chief of Suseo Police Station in Seoul, and Director of the Information Management Department at the Seoul Police Agency.

Director Woo, born in Gimcheon, also graduated from the Korean National Police University (7th class) and has held positions such as Chief of Seocho Police Station in Seoul and Director of Crime Prevention Policy at the National Police Agency.
