View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] KT announced on the 23rd that its 'AI Building Operator' solution has received the 'NET New Technology Certification' from the National Institute of Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The 'NET New Technology Certification' is a government program that certifies excellent technologies as new technologies across a total of eight fields, including mechanical materials and electric vehicle technology. KT's 'AI Building Operator' received the new technology certification in the information and communication field for its technology that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms into building facility automation systems to optimally control heating and cooling equipment.
With this new technology certification, KT confirmed the stability and efficiency of the AI algorithm that automatically controls building facilities in the 'AI Building Operator.' The operation mechanism of the AI algorithm was verified step-by-step according to the verification procedures of a nationally accredited institution.
The 'AI Building Operator' certified as a new technology consists of three technologies: the building facility control engine (Robo-Operator), the intelligent controller (Industrial Box, i-Box), and a cloud-based service platform.
The building facility control engine is a technology that applies AI algorithms to the operation methods of building facilities. It intelligently and automatically operates existing facility operation methods to function according to real-time operating conditions. KT created a simulation model that accurately reflects the characteristics of buildings using its self-developed digital twin technology and generated a large amount of virtual operation data spanning over 10 years to complete the AI algorithm.
When the building facility control engine issues control commands, the intelligent controller collects facility information and transmits it to subordinate systems. It includes various industrial standard protocols, enabling easy and fast integration of multiple facilities based on this technology.
The cloud-based service platform is a web service structure that links the building facility automation system with the cloud to automatically receive building information. Without installing separate software, this platform collects environmental information such as temperature, CO2, and fine dust at one-minute intervals and allows real-time confirmation of analysis results.

Composed of these technologies, the 'AI Building Operator' solution is highly economical as it can easily establish facility environments by simply linking the cloud to the equipment of existing buildings as well as new buildings. Additionally, since the AI automatically monitors environmental information inside and outside the building to control the facilities, it achieves an energy saving effect of 10 to 15% compared to before.
