Campaign Activities Bringing Joy with Workers to Elevate Local Election Festival
Presented Hampyeong Development Blueprint, Regional Balanced Growth, and Sectoral Development Strategy Pledges
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Lee Sang-ik, the Democratic Party candidate for Hampyeong County Governor, took to various areas of Hampyeong County during the first weekend of the official campaign period for the June 1 nationwide local elections, seeking to win voters' support.
Candidate Lee, aiming to make this local election a festival of genuine grassroots democracy rather than a battleground of confrontation and conflict, performed rhythmic movements along with volunteers to the campaign song, receiving applause from residents.
On Saturday the 21st, Lee campaigned in Sonbul-myeon and Singwang-myeon, and on the 22nd in Hampyeong-eup and Hakgyo-myeon, presenting a blueprint for Hampyeong's development while pledging balanced development across the nine towns and townships and sector-specific development strategies.
At a campaign held in front of the Sonbul Nonghyup agricultural materials sales center, Lee emphasized, "Seokchang Port in Sonbul-myeon, which boasts pristine mudflats and a beautiful fishing village, was selected as a target site for the 2023 Fishing Village New Deal 300 project. Following Hampyeong Port in 2019, Seokdu Port in 2020, and Wolcheon Port in 2021, this marks the fourth consecutive year that projects have been selected, enabling the modernization of infrastructure at all ports and harbors within Hampyeong County."
At the Singwang-myeon campaign, he stated, "With the relocation of the National Institute of Animal Science's Livestock Resources Development Division, a smart livestock research national institution, to Singwang-myeon, Hampyeong is expected to strengthen its regional livestock industry's competitiveness through future livestock research and development infrastructure and customized livestock technology enhancement."
On Sunday the 22nd, coinciding with the Hampyeong-eup five-day market, Lee campaigned in front of the terminal, saying, "Hampyeong-eup has reached a turning point in development with the launch of an urban regeneration New Deal project to improve the poor residential environment caused by the decline of the old downtown area, thereby enhancing residents' quality of life." He promised, "To revitalize the commercial district of Hampyeong-eup, we will promote large-scale landscape projects and develop parts of Hampyeongcheon Stream (from Yeongsujeong to Daegyeongbo) to create flower gardens and leisure spaces, as well as establish premium walking paths."

Finally, on the weekend, Lee visited Hakgyo-myeon, explaining, "Hakgyo-myeon will complete the livestock-specialized project investment leading district development by 2023.
