Korea Airports Corporation Hosts 2nd 'UAM Vertiport Design Idea Contest'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Korea Airports Corporation is holding the 2nd “UAM Vertiport Design Idea Contest” for university students nationwide.
This contest, themed “Tourism and Public Use UAM Vertiport Design,” aims to discover creative ideas from university students across the country who will lead the future aviation industry, to reference in the design for the commercialization of UAM in 2025, and to increase the MZ generation’s interest in the UAM industry.
The corporation will select and award one Grand Prize team, one Excellence Award team, two Encouragement Award teams, and one Best Innovation Award team from the submitted ideas. The winning works will be exhibited and presented at the “2022 National University Student Drone & UAM Olympiad (hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Transportation Safety Authority)” scheduled for November, along with various other benefits.
Yoon Hyung-jung, President of Korea Airports Corporation, stated, “The corporation will lead the global UAM industry by combining the know-how accumulated over 42 years of constructing and operating airports nationwide with the fresh ideas of the MZ generation who will drive future industries.” He added, “We will continue to hold various events that resonate with the public to foster the UAM industry, which will be a future growth engine for our country.”

The contest period is until August 5, and applications can be submitted online through the “2022 National University Student Drone & UAM Olympiad” website.
