Gwangju Mayor Candidate Joo Ki-hwan: "I Will Break the Democratic Party's Monopoly"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Joo Ki-hwan, the People Power Party candidate for mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, held a kickoff rally on the first day of official election campaigning, the 19th, at Gwangju Station Plaza along with People Power Party district mayors and local council candidates.
Candidate Joo said, "Even though the central government has changed, it seems that the People Power Party is still the opposition in Gwangju," and added, "I declare that I will stand at the center of politics as a true ruling party candidate."
He continued, "We will foster new industries such as artificial intelligence and future mobility to create numerous high-quality jobs," and appealed for support by saying, "To implement such policies, a huge budget is required, so a powerful ruling party-affiliated mayor who can work with the president is needed."
He also stated, "During the past 27 years of local government, Gwangju has become backward and isolated under the Democratic Party's monopoly system," and said, "Now, for the change and development of Gwangju, citizens must wisely choose on June 1 without obsession over a particular party and for practical benefits."
